Choose Loxone
For most villas. One Miniserver runs lighting, climate, shading, audio and access, with one app included. Faster to commission, and Loxone Air makes a retrofit possible without opening walls.
Choose KNX
When the project calls for KNX-native wall switches from a specific manufacturer, the building already has a KNX bus, or the developer specifies KNX for multi-vendor independence.
Combine them
Keep a KNX bus for switches and lighting, and add Loxone as the logic controller and app. A common path for upgrading an existing KNX villa.

For most villas in Limassol, Loxone is our default recommendation — better app, faster commissioning, modern ecosystem. We install KNX only when there is a specific reason: a client requirement for KNX-native switches or existing KNX infrastructure.

Which is better for home automation, Loxone or KNX?
For most villas in Cyprus we recommend Loxone: one controller, one app included, faster commissioning and a wireless retrofit option. KNX is the better choice when you need KNX-native switches, already have a KNX installation, or want maximum manufacturer independence.
Can KNX and Loxone work together?
Yes. A KNX/Loxone gateway allows Loxone to control KNX devices. Some installations use KNX for lighting bus and Loxone as the logic controller.
Which is more reliable?
Loxone. The Miniserver is an industrial-grade controller with a strong reliability track record, regular firmware updates and a polished app. We install KNX only when specifically required — for example, where KNX-native switches or client preference are involved.
Which has the better app?
Loxone — the native app is consistently rated higher by end users. KNX app quality depends on which visualisation software is added.
Can either system be retrofitted?
Loxone has a dedicated wireless retrofit solution — Loxone Air devices communicate via a proprietary 868MHz protocol, more reliable than ZigBee mesh. A full retrofit without cable runs is possible. KNX has no comparable wireless option for retrofit.
How much do Loxone and KNX cost in Cyprus?
Our smart home projects start from €15,000 on Loxone and from €30,000 on KNX; entry-level systems start from €5,000. The exact price comes after design.
Which is better for a new build, and which for a finished villa?
On a new build both are cabled at first-fix stage, and Loxone is our default. In a finished villa Loxone Air lets us add control without opening walls, while KNX normally needs its bus cable run to every device.
